Originally from New Zealand -I learnt to sail at Murray’s Bay Sailing Club on Auckland’s North Shore.
A club that’s produced many good sailors including Emirates Team New Zealands”s Skipper Dean Barker.
I started sailing in Optimists and other dinghies such a P Class (an NZ boat). Taking up sailing bigger boats after leaving school.
I’ve traveled around the world with work eventually settling in London in 2002.
I found it was possible to feed my sailing bug by crewing on other people’s yachts until I purchased my first yacht – Tangaroa – 3 years ago.
It’s been a massive learning curve but has led me to bring together my sailing passion and business experience to create Tangaroa Yacht Charters.
I’m also a qualified Yacht Master – making me able to skipper the yacht.
Mine and Tangaroa’s recent sailing successes (2009)
We’ve had an amazing year – finally getting up to scratch and moving to the front of the fleet. Some of the achievements I’m most proud of are:
- Fastnet: 4th in class (IRC2a)
- Myth of Malham cup: 1st in class (IRC2) & 5th overall
- RORC overall series 2009: 7th in class (IRC2)
