Anchorage
Clot Des Llamp is a perfect anchorage for boats heading to Ibiza from Mallorca or vice versa. It is located on the north side of Ibiza by Punta Grosa.
The anchorage is made up of high cliffs with interesting looking rock formations in the cliffs. There are a couple of small caves which looked interesting and some hotels on the top of the cliffs. We could not find any way of getting up to these hotels. Other than that there is very little there and because of this it does get very dark during the night.
There is limited to no internet or mobile phone coverage in this anchorage.
Accessing Clot Des Llamp
Finding this anchorage is fairly easy as it is on the north side of Punta Grosa. Punta Grosa can be recognised by a small tower on the headland.
The anchorage itself has varying depths. We anchored in 6 meters of water by the beach on the left hand side when looking into the anchorage towards the cliffs. There are some islands to avoid but these are easily visible above the water.

Ibiza Port
Marina
A very well known and popular place for everyone- from people looking for a gourmet holiday and beautiful sights to clubbers in the search of the ultimate night out.
This town really does have a lot to offer and if you’re on Ibiza Island on a sailing holiday then you really should pop in for a look around.
There are multiple marinas in the port including Club Nautico de Ibiza, Marina Botafoch and Puerto Deportivo Ibiza Nueva.
We use the Club Nautico de Ibiza which is ideally located for access to the town and easy to find as it’s straight ahead as you enter the port – at the head of the harbour.
Location
38.54′.7N 01.26′.7E
Club Nautico De Ibiza quick summary
In the off season prices here are not too bad (around 35 Euros a night for a 12 foot yacht) but they do double in price (literally) for the peak season which starts on June 1st.
The location is perfect for accesing town, restaurants and bars.
The marina it’s self is in OK condition but there are a few things to be aware of:
- Visitors berths are on the outside pontoon (the first you see when you arrive at Club Nautico). This Pontoon is concrete and has a wider concrete lip just below water level so you cannot pull up right against the pontoon. Stay a few feet away and they will give you a plank to walk along to get to your boat (unless you have one already).
- The day ferries to the other islands and main land Spain go past this marina. When they go past they do create a lot of wash. These ferries start early in the morning and finish late at night
- When walking along the pontoon be careful as there are lots of planks, wires and hazards
Accessing Club Nautico de Ibiza
This marina really is easy to find. Head straight though the port and you can’t miss it as, it will be right in front of you. You may be able to see the club house which is tall and located on the shore-side behind the marina.
Radio in just as you arrive and someone will be there to meet you and help with picking up the lines.
Mooring is stern or boy to the concrete pontoon (visitors are on the outside pontoon). They will hand you the anchor line and you will need 2 stern lines on the boat. If they have stern lines there I’d use them as they are normally have tires on them to stop the jolting when the wash comes in.
Facilities at Club Nautico de Ibiza
There is a good club house with a bar in it. There are also showers and toilets which are in a good condition.
A laundrette can be found it town and there are multiple super markets and local markets not far from the marina.
Recommendations
- The local market: great for food shopping and seeing the local dishes. Slightly more expensive than shopping in a supermarket but the food is good and it’s much more fun shopping there
- Blue Marilin bar: A can ride out of town but definitely worth it if you want a chill out day or a good night
- The old town: lovely walking along the walls plus there’s some lovely places to stop for a drink or some food
Anchorage
Puerto El Espalmador
Stunning beach – you must visit here if you are on a yacht charter in Ibiza. It is a privately owned island but yachts are welcome to anchor off the beach and use the beaches for exploring, sunbathing and swimming. I believe this is one of the most beautiful and unspoilt spots in Ibiza.
Several books indicate that there are mooring buoys in this bay. There are not – you will need to anchor.
This is a very popular anchorage and can get busy in the summer seasons.
Location
38.46′.8N, 01.25′.7E
Accessing Puerto El Espalmador
It is worth checking the pilot book and your chart plotter before trying to enter the anchorage as you cannot pass between Isla de la Alga and Espalmador itself. Instead you must enter between Isle del Gastabi and Isla de la Alga. Keep at least 200m off Isle del Gastabi.
Anchor over sand at 3-5 meters depth.
Facilities
None
Recommendations
Visiting the beach. In fact we swam to the beach from the boat which was amazing.
Anchorage – Ensenada Del Cabrito
If your looking to explore Formantera and Puerto De Sabina but not pay for the marina or the marina is full then this is a great spot. You can easily take your dinghy into Sabina or further along the coast from here.
The anchorage itself is very sheltered from the swell and has well placed mooring buoys which are used by most boats visiting this anchorage.
Sabina itself is worth a visit if you fancy an ice-cream or walk around a small town. From here you can hire bikes and visit San Fernando or other popular spots on the island.
Location
38.43′.8N 01.24′.2E
Access
This anchorage is easy for find as it is west of Sabina and just behind Punta Prima. If you are coming from Espalmador then you can’t miss it
Facilities
None however there are shops, cafes and bike hire places in Sabina.
Recommendations
- Visiting Sabina in you dinghy
- Hiring a bike or walking to San Fernando
- Swimming off the back of the boat with the fish
Anchorage
One of the more touristy anchorages in Ibiza with high rise hotels, a very busy beach and lots of “British” pubs. All the restaurants seem to be of a similar theme (fish or meat) and there is a Chinese restaurant which is fairly easy to find too.
Just behind the beach there are multiple Spa shops – most of which sell food for picnics and snacking. Very few if any sell meat or food for cooking as I assume they are catering for beach picnics and non-self catering apartments.
There are plenty of buses and taxis whiuch run from this cala to other places around the island including Ibiza Town.
The water here is really clear and great for swimming in. There are also plenty of fish to see if you fancy snorkeling. You can anchor close enough to the beach to be able to swim there and back.
Anchoring is mainly over sand and weed.
As with many of the more built up anchorages, the hotels do have loud speakers on in the evening which can keep you away if sleeping on your boat.
Location
39.06′.8N 01.30′.8E
Accessing Portinatx
Fairly easy to see as you can see the tourist development from a fair away off the coast. The Torre de Portinatx is on Punta de del Mares to the west of the cala.
Facilities
- Shops, bars and restaurants just behind the beaches
- Taxis and buses for access to other areas of Ibiza
- Beach and beach showers
Anchorages
Both of these anchorages are located in the same area. Puerto de San Miguel (this is not a port – this is an anchorage) is more sheltered going deeper into with land on either side. Cala Binirras is less sheltered in the entrance to San Miguel.
Whilst being so close, each offers a different experience.San Miguel offering a bury tourist beach, multiple bars and restaurants, shops and access to a larger town. Cala Binirras however is much less touristy with a couple of smaller more local restaurants on the beach. It’s best to vist this beach at sun set as people do come down here to play drums on the beach as the sun sets. Unfortunately we missed this as we were too late when we were there but we’d still recommend visiting if you can.
You can anchor in either and motor on a dinghy between beaches.
Anchoring is over weed and sand. There are mooring buoys in San Miguel however we are unsure whether they are privately owned or whether than can hold anything larger than a dinghy or small motor boat.
As San Miguel is the more touristy of the two – you can hear the entertainment in the hotels at night if you are sleeping in the anchorage.
Location
39.05′.2N 01.26′.5E
Access
If approaching from the west and planning on passing inside Isla Murada so so with caution, there is an isolated rock 1.5-2m high which lies in the passage between the island and shore towards Punta de la Crue.
Recommendations
- Visit Binarres for sun set and check out the restaurants on the beach
